Yes, you can buy nicotine pouches in Amsterdam, but only online. Since 1 January 2025, the Netherlands has banned retail sales of nicotine pouches, so tobacco shops, kiosks, and convenience stores in the city carry none. We ship to Amsterdam from Sweden, inside the EU customs union, which means no import duty and no customs paperwork on your end.
What Amsterdam's Retail Ban Means in Practice
You will not find ZYN, VELO, or any other nicotine pouch brand on a shelf in Amsterdam. The retail prohibition covers physical stores nationwide. Online ordering remains the only route for adults in the city, and parcels from Sweden cross no external EU border, so your order arrives without customs clearance delays.
You confirm your age when you order. You confirm you are 18 or older when you place the order.
For the current legal position, the Dutch government's smoking policy pages cover nicotine product restrictions.
Popular picks in the Netherlands
Popular picks in the Netherlands start with the Mystery Can. After that, VELO leads:
- Mystery Can
- VELO Freezing Peppermint
- VELO Crispy Peppermint
- VELO Freezing Peppermint Max
- VELO Freezing Peppermint Ultra
- VELO Purple Grape
Mint and menthol clearly lead, but the Mystery Can order volume tells you people here are also willing to try something unknown. If you want the safest first order, VELO bestsellers is the collection to open. If you want variety without deciding, Mystery Can does that job.
Shipping to Amsterdam
The Netherlands is an EU Close destination for us. You choose between UPS Access Point and UPS Express at checkout.
| Option | Cost | Delivery |
|---|---|---|
| UPS Access Point | Free on orders €75+ | 1-3 days |
| UPS Express | From €6.99 | 1-2 days |
Access Point delivery means your parcel goes to a local UPS pickup location rather than your door. If you are not home during the day, that is often the more practical option. Express comes to your address.
Any charge raised on arrival is the recipient's responsibility. In practice, parcels from Sweden to the Netherlands do not attract import duty because both countries are in the EU customs union.
Strength Guide
Pouchland groups nicotine pouches by mg per pouch. Use these store-wide collection tiers when comparing strength.
| Strength Category | Nicotine (mg/pouch) | Recommended For | Comparable To |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light | ≤ 4 mg | Beginners / very light smokers | Light cigarettes |
| Medium | 4.1 – 8 mg | Casual / occasional users | Regular cigarettes |
| Strong | 8.1 – 12 mg | Daily / pack-a-day smokers | Full-strength cigarettes |
| Extra Strong | 12.1 – 20 mg | Experienced heavy smokers | High-nicotine snus |
| Extreme | 20.1 mg+ | Experienced users only | Strongest snus on the market |
Use one pouch at a time. If you experience dizziness, nausea, headache, or a racing heartbeat, stop using and switch to a lower strength.
Formats and Moisture
Pouches come in mini, slim, and large formats. Slim is the default for most VELO products and sits discreetly under the lip. Mini is smaller again. Large portions are less common in the brands ordered most from the Netherlands.
Moisture affects how quickly nicotine is released. Moist pouches release faster and have a more immediate feel. Dry pouches release more slowly and produce less drip. Semi-moist sits between. Product pages list the format and moisture for every can.
Legal Position for Amsterdam Buyers
The minimum age for nicotine pouches in the Netherlands is 18. Our checkout verifies age before payment completes. The retail ban that began on 1 January 2025 does not prohibit online purchase or delivery to a Dutch address.
Because we ship from Sweden, your parcel never leaves the EU customs union. That removes import duty and customs paperwork from the equation. The EU Tobacco Products Directive is the framework under which nicotine pouches are regulated at EU level, though national rules like the Dutch retail ban sit on top of it.
Practical Notes for Amsterdam Orders
UPS Access Point is the most forgiving option if your building has no secure lobby or you are rarely home during delivery hours. You get a pickup code by email and collect within the window UPS sets.
We price in EUR only. The free-shipping threshold for the Netherlands is €75, and it applies to Access Point delivery. Express always carries a fee, starting at €6.99.
If you want to browse what is new rather than reorder a known can, new arrivals is updated regularly. For mint-focused options beyond VELO, XQS Mint Collection and 77 Nicotine Pouches both carry mint-forward ranges. If fruit flavours are more your direction, fruit nicotine pouches covers that ground.
