VELO Shift Review: Triangle Pouch, 8 mg, Sweden Only

VELO Shift is a triangular, tobacco-free nicotine pouch with 8 mg of nicotine per pouch, made by Velo together with the Swedish retailer Snusbolaget. It's a Sweden-only line, and the version we stock is VELO Shift Hot Dragonfruit.

The triangle is the whole point

Most pouches are rectangles. Shift pouches have three corners, and the triangle sits firm under your upper lip without drifting. That's the main thing you notice compared with a regular Velo.

They're moist pouches, wetter than standard Velo. And the can is different too: a metallic finish instead of the usual plastic. There are 20 pouches per can.

How Shift lines up against regular Velo

Where 8 mg sits on our scale

8 mg is Medium on the Pouchland scale, which runs from 5 mg up to just under 10 mg. Strong starts at 10 mg. So Shift isn't a heavy hitter. If you already use 6 mg pouches, it's a small step up. If you're on 14 mg or more, it'll feel mild.

Hot Dragonfruit: what it tastes like

Sweet dragonfruit with a warming kick on top. It's not a mint. That makes it a different pick from most of the Velo range, which leans heavily on peppermint and spearmint.

Is VELO Shift tobacco-free?

Yes. There's no tobacco leaf in it. Tobacco-free pouches aren't covered by the current EU Tobacco Products Directive. A revision that could change that is being followed in trade press like Tobacco Reporter and TobaccoIntelligence.

Getting Shift outside Sweden

Shift is only sold in shops in Sweden. We ship it from Sweden, and checkout shows the carriers, prices and delivery times for your address before you pay.

When Hot Dragonfruit is sold out

The closest match on strength is the McLaren edition. The rest go up or down from there:
